Known for its ravenous appetite, the “Taz” first appeared in animated cartoons in the mid-50’s, yet even today its popularity is ever growing.

Although there’s very little resemblance, Robert McKimson, the creator of the Warner Brothers “Taz”, based the character on the real Tasmanian Devils of the Australian island state of Tasmania .

Real Tasmanian Devils are small furry carnivorous marsupials found in the wild. They have large heads and short legs, and the only real similarities to the cartoon character are limited to a voracious appetite and a shy demeanor.
