Many customers ask about the shelf life of candy, and they are worried that it will go bad too quickly before they fill their bulk candy machines. However, did you know that the shelf life of candy depends largely on how you store it, the integrity of the packaging, and the temperature you store it? Chocolate based candy like Sixlets or M&M’s will last up to 12 months in its original packaging if stored in a dry, low humidity, cool area out of sunlight. A dark storage cabinet or storage bin will help lengthen the shelf life.
Sugar based candies like Mike & Ike’s, Hot Tamales, Skittles, Runts and Gumballs have a longer shelf life. They can last up to 18 months kept in the same environment.
