Jelly Belly turns out millions of delicious candies from two factories, one in Fairfield CA and the other in North Chicago IL. But this Easter story focuses on the distribution center and massive warehouse in Pleasant Prairie WI, which opened its doors in 2001 and hosts 250,000 visitors annually to free tours of this sweet facility. Tours begin at Jelly Belly Junction, where you can board the Jelly Belly Express for a narrated ride around the facility. Massive video monitors explain the candy-making process. A series of portraits made from thousands of Jelly Belly beans make for some unique ‘Belly Art’ artwork. Suspended from the ceiling of Candy Alley, are surreal-sized jellybeans. There is also entertainment in the form of an animated chorus line of Jelly Belly mascots – affectionately referred to as ‘Belly Dancers’. Photos document the company history from the 1800’s, when the company began as Herman Goelitz Candy Co. making candy corn.
